EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY

POSITION: JOURNEYMAN CARPENTER

RESPONSIBLE TO: Maintenance Supervisor

POSITION STATUS: Full-Time Position

The job duties for the Journeyman/Journeywoman Carpenter include responding to service requests from building occupants, completing routine maintenance, performing planned inspections of different components, coordinating with other staff, and performing work as directed by the department Lead and on-site Maintenance Supervisor.

The normal work schedule is Monday through Friday 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM.

  • Comlpete work orders and minor work requests daily.
  • Respond to requests for services from the occupants of the Housing Co-operative.
  • Use Buildium Platform for processing new work notifications and managing open notifications to support building and occupant (member) needs.
  • Complete routine maintenance and inspections on Carpenter shop equipment, tools, and systems.
  • Assist with the co-ordination of work by contractors on projects as may be required.
  • Communicates with and works with the other team members consistently to improve overall operations of the Sarcee Meadows Housing Co-operative team.
  • Keeps up to date and informed on company products, services, and policies.
  • Presents a professional image of Sarcee Meadows Housing Co-operative team in appearance and behaviour.
  • Communicates with and works with the other team members consistently to improve overall operations.

Service Requests Responsibilities

  • Respond to maintenance notifications in a courteous and timely manner.
  • Under the direction of the Carpenter/Supervisor perform minor maintenance functions for all carpentry-related tasks.
  • Identify problems and provide the service within defined timelines.
  • Provide information to close service request and record comments for future reference.
  • Respond to emergency requirements; must carry a cellular, or two-way radio.

Required Education, Skills, and Qualifications

  • Minimum of five years of previous, Residential, or commercial based Carpentry experience.
  • Journeyman or equivalent Carpenter certification is required.
  • Finish Carpentry experience required
  • Must be a self-starter and work well with minimal supervision.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
  • Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to keep tools and work area tidy.
  • Adequate computer skills including familiarity with MS Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel), and email.
  • Strong working knowledge of all aspects of building operations and maintenance.
  • Strong ability to effectively identify and solve building related problems.
  • Good understanding of present building codes
